WHAT DO WE MEAN BY SUSTAINABLE REGENERATION?

Sustainable
More than addressing environment or green issues, vital those may be, creating sustainable places is about balance, balance between economic prosperity and social improvement, between the local community and the wider world
Places where people want to live, are able to work and be happy , have a positive sense of well being and be reassured that there is equality of opportunity and poverty is eradicated – this is what being sustainable means

Regeneration
More than the physical improvement of places , buildings , streets and open spaces, regeneration moves a place from where it has been to where it wants to be. Regeneration is about people as much as place, its about a achieving a renewed sense of identity, a closer connection with the place where you live or work.
Regeneration as the process to achieving sustainable places provides the confidence to remain, to plan for your and your family’s future , it needs to be a constant state within which places challenge themselves to keep improving and moving towards being fully sustainable

Solutions
Understanding challenges and finding solutions is central to creating sustainable places. Marshalling the collective capacity of businesses, voluntary and community groups and public service organisations to address matters of real concern builds confidence, trust and belief change can happen. Establishing consensus about what is important, brokering and assembling the right skills and resources to deliver solutions based on knowledge of what works and can be effectively applied to local circumstances.

Sustainable Regeneration Solutions - this what we are about, this is what we work with places to deliver.

“We were delighted with the support we had from Chris Ashman in developing our Whole Place plan for the Llanelli Rural area. We are now in an excellent position to work with partners and our communities in addressing the national well being goals, but most importantly undertaking practical steps to make the lives of local people better”.

Mark Galbraith, Clerk of the Council, Llanelli Rural Area
